Today we had a great day finishing our work at one place and moving on to the next place. We started cleaning the outside of another lady's house. We were cleaning out the gutters, repairing the deck, and cleaning the siding. We will finish the cleaning tomorrow. It was a great experience to see how happy the people were to see how their house looked while we were cleaning.
Meet inferno. He is the smallest turtle that we found. And of course we had turtle races with all three of them.
Yesterday we went to a bluegrass concert, and while we were there we did a lot of line dancing. It was very fun and tiring.
On the way to the Oprey House we saw two coal mines and many deer. Yesterday morning we went to the nursing home and sang silly songs to the elderly. The joy on their face was priceless. One girl got up and started dancing with us. Kids club has been very fun seeing all the little different kids open up to us. There is a Wendy's close by to the church we're at and it has been a frequent afternoon snack! We started the day off with worship It got a little crazy And then we were sent out with a blessing hmmmmm yep craziness continued.....need more caffeine lots more travel and we arrived to Logan right on time. Tomorrow starts early....and the. the real work begins.thought for the evening comes from Luke 19 and how we are all desirable by Christ.
Today was the first day of actually working in/at Logan. While three of our group did yard work outside, I had the chance to work at Kid's Club. The morning started out with the "Kid's Club" group splitting into three main planning groups. I was in the games and songs group and met some really cool people from Richmond, Virginia. Our job was to plan 3 songs and a game to entertain the kids during "sharing circles." After a long tiring day at our work sites, we got the opportunity to swim at the Chief Logan State Park at their swimming pool. After jumping into the refreshing water after a long, hot, and sweaty day, our church group resided to go down the water slide in trains of 5-7 people. For dinner we had some chicken and cheesy rice thing and some green beans. After dinner we played a little four square and headed down to Wendy's with a couple other church groups for Frostys! Now we are concluding our day with a little church group reflection time, and they are waiting for me to finish this so I better go! Looking forward to a great rest of the week!!! :)
Day one of the greatest mission trip St. Peter has ever had has nearly come to an end :( Here are the juicy details thus far! It all started right away this morning when we discovered one of our trusty vans had died on us over the night and needed to be jumped! Once we figured that out we were ready to go and were off. The next adventure occurred even before we left Bremer county, we hit a bird and set feathers flying! A few hours later while driving through backed up traffic due to a bad accident we played hangman through the car windows. After we got out of road construction we stopped for lunch at the Iowa 80 truck stop and learned a bunch of crazy random facts. After lunch we were off again and headed for Indiana. In my van , the spruce goose, we made friendship bracelets and continued the license plate game! We have 27 states so far! we finally arrived in Indianapolis at around 7 (their time)! We brought in our luggage and got a tour of Cross of Grace Lutheran Church and were off for pizza at a local joint. After we got our grub we went back to the church for some fun and games. We got in a big circle and bounced a ball to each other for a solid amount of time. Soon our game progressed into baseball but more like cricket. The church we are at has a baseball diamond and we found a long board, so naturally we created our own game of baseball and played a few innings. Now were getting all ready for bed and coloring a few last minute pictures. so good night I guess... we have more great experiences to create tomorrow.
And we are off!! (You can tell because everyone is still smiling.). And now 8 hours of driving to Indiana.ARE WE THERE YET!?!?!
