Give Me Thirty

There’s an opportunity waiting for many of you! A mission field challenge right here in our own backyard. Could you spare thirty minutes a week? "Give me Thirty" is a chance to reach out to a child who is in kindergarten through fifth grade at Denver Elementary School. What a positive difference you could make in his/her life!

“Give me Thirty”.......What could you do?

• Read together
  
• Talk about hobbies and interests
  
• Listen to music
  
• Play a game
  
• Make a craft
  
• Discuss social studies, science, math
  
• Eat lunch together
  
• Explore computers
  
• Write stories and poems
  
• Learn a life skill: counting money, measurement, cooking, 
  
• gardening, sewing, using carpentry tools
  
• Share conversation

Your involvement and influence........

• could help build a student’s self-worth
  
• could affirm to the child that you’re a special advocate for him/her
• could show the child your genuine concern for his/her welfare
• could make a positive connection with the mentee that could have long-term effects
• could demonstrate how God’s love is shining through your commitment and connection with the student

It’s not necessarily what you do together, but that you do something together! These children may have a better chance of being successful and productive in their school as well as in their home and community environment with your support. By getting involved in the “Give me Thirty” volunteer program, you’ll see how the weekly visits will be life-changing for your assigned student as well as for you.  Please pray about your possible involvement with the “Give me Thirty” opportunity.
