Announcements
NE Iowa Food Bank Donations: At a time of year when families gather at tables filled
with holiday favorites, some families will be wishing they had enough food to feed their family. Seniors on fixed-incomes won't have enough money to buy both food and medication. And hungry children in our community will be wishing that their stomachs would stop aching from hunger. Having food to eat shouldn't be anyone's wish during the holidays. But the fact is that one in eight of our neighbors in Northeast Iowa is at risk of hunger right now. At the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, your donation helps feed families in crisis. The Food Bank distributes food directly to those in need through local agencies and programs including emergency food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens and elder care centers. Thanksgiving will be here soon and your help is urgently needed. At the food bank, they are able to take every $10 you donate and turn it into approximately 40 meals. Your donation will truly be a gift that matters for those in need. A table will be set up near the office to collect money for the Food Bank. Each dollar makes a huge difference! Ask God to open your heart and be humbled by your wealth. May your deep sense of gratefulness encourage you to find generosity and wonder in all aspects of your life. Need a date night for Valentines Day or just a break from the kids. Bring them to St Peter Lutheran Church Sunday, February 13, for some Valentines fun, 4:00 pm-7:00pm. All Ages Welcome. We will provide a meal for the kids. Parents MUST SIGN UP their children to attend. All donations support the youth attending the ELCA National Youth Gathering in 2022.
It’s Time for the SOUPer Bowl!!
The Board of Mission will be collecting cans of soup or monetary donations during February, Super Bowl month. Please put your donations on the table outside the office. All the soup and cash contributions will be given to the Waterloo Salvation Army. Wear your jersey to Church: On Super Bowl Sunday, February 13th, for the low price of a five dollar donation to the Salvation Army, you can wear any team logo shirt of your choice, from any sport (hockey, football, soccer, basketball, track) and from any high school, college, or professional team! Let’s have fun, show our team spirit and continue our support of the Salvation Army ministries. We are planning to sort through and clean out stuff in the second garage attic on Saturday, April 24, starting at 8:00 am. Any help with this project would be appreciated! Then on Saturday, May 1, 8:00 am we plan to do yard work and once again would welcome help.
All Saints Sunday, November 1, the church’s traditional time to remember those who have died in the past year and those born into our faithcommunity. We celebrate and remember their lives and how we are knit
together with them in the victory of Jesus’ resurrection. We will remember those from St Peter and if you’d like to submit a name of a loved one lost within the last year, please do so before October 26. The Lutheran Disaster Response Fund has been activated to answer the call and lift up those who need support to recover from the derecho.
The Iowa Lutheran Disaster Response Fund is a partnership among LSI and the three Iowa synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Your gift will support your Iowa neighbors as they recover from the destruction left behind by this severe storm. Please consider giving generously. https://lsiowa.org/disasterrelief/ Also, The Southeastern Iowa Synod is collecting gifts to support relief efforts after the derecho that swept through the state last week. The Office of the Bishop is assessing the needs as a result of the derecho storm in a large part of the territory of the synod. You can make a gift online to help relief efforts at the link below. If you'd like to assist in other ways, email Val Harlynn, [email protected] https://seiasynod.org/elca…/disaster-response-derecho-storm We are sorry to inform our members that we will not be hosting EWALU this summer for VBS.
Join us Wednesday evenings for Holden Evening Prayer. Supper will be served starting at 5:15 pm, with Worship at 6:30 pm
